Education experts and stakeholders from across Europe gathered in Budapest, Hungary, for a peer-learning activity (PLA) focused on cross-sectoral collaboration in October. Organised as part of the Collaborative Action for Inclusive Education (CAFIE) activity, the event brought together education policy-makers from Belgium (French community), Denmark, Germany, Hungary and Sweden, alongside local education stakeholders.
The two-day event featured presentations and interactive sessions that demonstrated examples of cross-sector collaboration within the Hungarian education system. During a visit to a local primary school, participants observed collaborative teaching methods in action. They discussed a range of topics with the school staff, including teacher professional learning, behavioural support, and family and community engagement.
Following the school visit, participants heard from local education stakeholders, including the head teacher of a special school who shared practical strategies for inclusive classroom management, and the parent of a learner with hearing loss who outlined her experience of navigating the education system. They also explored examples of collaboration across sectors within the Hungarian system, such as innovative cross-sector collaboration in a hospital school.
Participants will use the examples of practice shared in the Budapest PLA to enhance cross-sector collaboration in their national education systems. In addition, they will contribute to the CAFIE activity outputs, alongside the examples showcased in the PLAs in Stockholm and Frankfurt.
